Random Ramblings About Travel Around The World

Nowhere in the world's it say that you cannot get paid to travel around the world. If traveling is your passion, you can view the whole world and pay me to do it. Fortunately, in this era of technology there are many ways you can travel all in the world, and also get paid to do it.

QUESTION: Travelling around the world?
Has anyone travelled around the world? If so what company's did you book it with, or travel with? Any do's and dont's or general advice, Looking to book in the next 6months!! Thanks
  • That is a big question. I will stick to the air travel part is I may because that is the area I know a bit about. Booking round the world flights can be done in one of two ways; off the shelf packages or tailor made. The hard work is taken out of the equation with the former but you may not get to where you want to go. There are three main airline alliances, Oneworld, Star Alliance and Skyteam. Each of these will have the means to ticket you between their member airlines to get you round the world. The main rule is that you can travel either East or West, (North and South are OK so long as you are also progressing East or West). You cannot backtrack. There are a number of companies specialising in round the world and tailor-made. I suggest you use one of them rather than a High Street agency. The three which spring to mind are Journeys a La Carte, which has one both the Guardian and Sunday Times travel agent of the year awards and Travelbag and Austravel. I personally prefer Journeys and I have dealt with them for ten years for complex itineraries. These agencies are specialist and have access to more booking options that the High St ones who would be more comfortable selling a trip to the Costa's. One other piece of advice, take a couple of photo copies of your passport details pages and keep them separate from your passport.
